The redevelopment of Bellingham Downtown Waterfront is now underway on more than 100 acres of former industrial land. The site is being transformed into a mixed-use space with public art and community access to the bay.
A NEW DISTRICT
The Bellingham Downtown Waterfront will be transformed from its long history of an active industrial site to a new Smart Growth urban neighbourhood on the water with offices, restaurants, shops, bars and homes.
A new Local Area Development was passed in February 2020 for approx. 2 million sq ft of mixed-use Development.
This new city neighbourhood will be an extension of the existing downtown and, for the first time, will connect the existing city’s downtown commercial zone with the panoramic waterfront. The initial master planned area will extend to over 2million sq ft.
